Last year I met Melissa Monroe, mother of Alice Ferguson, who died at two years of age from SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood). Her grief had been poured into an annual event called Agastock, (Aga was the name of Alice’s pacifier) where some of LA’s finest ( and Texas’) musicians gather to raise monies for the Southern California Counseling Center’s Trauma and Training Unit.
I asked Melissa what her daughter’s name was, and when she said “Alice Ferguson” the first thing that hit me was that is was such a musical name. The song began to germinate and 8 months later, I finished and recorded it with some of the greatest musicians in the world. An honor. In releasing this song, the hope is not only for support in training therapists in the EMDR modality, but also hoping the song might heal, might soothe. Kriss Light
